Back to the Origins
Shanling started in 1988 as a traditional Hi-Fi company, de-signing and manufacturing machines for home hi-fi and stereo speakers. But in the last few years, they have focused more on the portable market, with media players, in-ear headphones and Bluetooth products. However they have know going back to their roots of home audio.
Independent Steraming Centre
Ruinning a deeply customised closed Android system, EM5 serves as a standalone music system. No need for a computer or other complicated setups. You can now have direct access to your music collection and all the streaming services needed in one package.
Key Design Elements
Gold plated volume wheel for the touch of luxury. A 4.7-inch touch screen to control your music and a circuit diagram to show off to the Hi-Fi enthusiasts.
Seperated Power Supply
To achieve the ideal sound performance in usch a complicated device, Shanling have decided to split the power supply between two sections. All the analog components are powered by a small and highly efficient torodial transformer in combination with high-performing German capacitors, helping to achieve a cleaner and smoother sound.
The digital section is powered by a switching power supply, with a specially designed voltage stabilising circuit, helping to keep unwanted noise and interferences to a minimum.
Shanling House Sound
To provide you with Shanling's typcial smooth and natural sound, they have decided to use a classic AKM AK4493EQ DAC chip for the EM5. Combined with a high-quality power supply, Hi-Res playback capabilites and 33 years of design experience, you can expect true High Fidelity sound.
The EM5 conversion stage is based on an excellent AK4493 chip. This generation of AKM 32bit DACs features Velvet Sound ™ technology as well as OSR Doubler filtering. It also ensures an extremely low level of distortion with a generous dynamic range.
Integrated into an Android system, the DAC supports sampling rates up to 32bit 768kHz and native DSD256 (+ DSD512 software support), while ensuring minimal noise as well as pure sound reproduction. The digital to analog circuit is accompanied by Panasonic Polymet Tantalum capacitors, allowing filtering of the power supply and therefore contribute to upgrading the in-depth signal-to-noise ratio.
Finally, the analog signal at the output of the DAC circuit embeds an OPA2211 operational amplifier: a remarkable component regularly used in the filtering / buffering of very high-end DACs.
Connectivity for the Modern Age
The EM5 offeres a two-way Bluetooth connectivity, for an easy music streaming from your phone or for the moments when you need to use Bluetooth headphones or speakers.
The possibilities of integration and the ways of sending digital audio signal to the EM5 are numerous. Its digital circuit is accessible via a USB input, a coaxial input, an optical input. It also has wired network connectivity (RJ45) even has its own ability to read files from USB storage devices.
Wireless connectivity is not left out since the EM5 can receive audio streams via a WiFi (2.4 & 5G) & two-way Bluetooth 4.2 on-board circuit. Shanling's EM5 is therefore compatible with DLNA & Airplay standards and supports high definition bluetooth audio streams (LDAC).
Eddict Player App
Shanling's own Eddct Player App is available on Android and iOS and allows you to take complete control over the EM5 from your smartphone or tablet. Offering complete display mirroring and giving you access to all the features of the EM5 from the comfort of your chair.
Utilising both 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm jack, the EM5 can be used with a vast majority of balanced headphones. And for everything else, there is still the standard 6.35 mm output to cover you for every situation.
Thanks to AGLO(Android Global Lossless Output), music from all apps will be proccessed correctly and at full quality without any degradation caused by Android's processes.
