  3. Yamaha's newest RX-A8A Lands In Store

Yamaha's newest RX-A8A arrives

The end of 2020 saw the release of a number of new AV Receivers from Yamaha, a brand that we know and love. The RX-V4A and RX-V6A made it to both of our stores in December and it is fair to say we were more than excited to take them on a test run.

Soon after their release, Yamaha announced the release of another receiver to the Aventage range - the RX-A2A which at first glance seems almost identical to the RX-V6A. So then posed the question, how do these two receivers compare and contrast?

The 2-zone, Yamaha RX-A2A offers a clean look that has significantly reduced the number of buttons on the front panel, while implementing an entirely new chassis construction (there's 21 screws holding the lid down!). Yamaha brings the latest in HDMI 2.1 thinking to the switching section, combined with a new high slew amplifier section (upgraded to 100 watts) - making it a power house that performs.

Some of the upgrades of the RX-A2A over the RX-V6A include:
  • 5th anti-resonance foot offers further chassis support
  • IR in / out 3.5mm rear mounted inputs
  • Upgraded Yamaha 'premium' remote control
  • 10,000uF capacitors in the power supply vs the 8,200uF of the RX-V6A (giving greater reserves to handle dynamic audio swings)
  • 4 year warranty (vs 2 years with the RX-V6A)
  • Beefier chassis (10.2kg vs 9.8kg) with a front panel that matches the Aventage series styling.
