Our Range of Media Players

A Media Renderer is a device used in conjunction with a Media Server, to render a file that is being streamed to it.

Generally this is a movie or music file coming from a computer or server/NAS which has yet to be decoded for music listening.
This is different from a DAC in the sense that the incoming file needs to be converted to a standard PCM (or DSD) stream before being decoded by the Digital to Analogue Converter.

A good example is streaming music from Spotify. The Media Renderer takes the incoming stream over WiFi or Ethernet connection, and processes the digital information into a format that the DAC (often in-built) can then convert into an analogue waveform.
