Astell & Kern Devices Drop Support for Tidal

Astell & Kern Devices Drop Support for Tidal for older devices due to new authentication requirements. The Listening Post, Christchurch and Wellington.

Some Astell & Kern users may have noticed that Tidal streaming has been problematic when trying to use the app. Tidal has changed the authentication method used when logging into third-party Tidal apps. Astell&Kern is working as quickly as possible to make the required changes in the embedded app.

While some can be fixed via a firmware update, some of the older DAPs will no longer be able to support Tidal due to new authentication protocols set by Android. While inconvenient, this is due to the fact that Tidal and Android are both third party apps. Unfortunately this means Tidal can no longer be supported on the following players due to the new authentication requirements.
However, they are currently looking into ways to continue to support the Tidal APP on these players through the use of the AK Connect app via smartphones and tablets.

The following table outlines the affected DAPs. If your DAP is available for a firmaware update, please follow the link at the bottom of the page and download the respective firmware update.
