1. Chord Qutest

The Qutest, a high end DAC from Chord Electronics took out first place. The Qutest is a pure DAC with no amplifier or battery built in. This seperation however is  what makes the Qutest so good. Being able to solely focus on the digital to analogue conversion process, it reproduces audio in unbelievable quality.

"The DAC delivers a crisp, clean and concise sound, with Chord's now familiar neutral tonal balance....the Qutest’s sole purpose is to be the digital-to-analogue bridge between your digital source and amplifier. And

it does the job brilliantly."

3. AudioQuest DragonFly Red

The AudioQuest DragonFly was also able to grab a podium finish. This is a product that we love at The Listening Post due to it's ease of use and form factor. Being the size of a USB stick, it is easy to carry around and easy to connect. The DragonFly Red adds clarity and power that seems impossible from a DAC so small but try it and you will hear just why the DragonFly Red took home the 3rd place spot.

"...improved weight and texture to your tunes, combined with a natural and subtle sound. All told, it's a

supremely compact and convenient device that can be taken anywhere for an immediate musical boost."

5. Chord Mojo

The 5th place was given to another Chord product. Perhaps the most popular Chord DAC, the Chord Mojo. The Mojo is easy to connect. Whether it's with your smartphone, tablet, music player, console or PC, the Mojo instantly adds an absurd level of clarity. There is good reason why the Mojo has become such a big name in the DAC market.

"The only feature missing from Mojo's arsenal is Bluetooth, but we're prepared to give it some leeway

because it sounds so good."

7. Chord Hugo 2

Yet another Chord product that made it into this list is the Hugo 2. Coming in at 7th place, the Hugo 2 can be a portable Amp/DAC but really shines as a desktop DAC. With full inputs for just about anything you can ask for, including aptX bluetooth, the Hugo 2 is a flexible DAC that can improve the sound of most inputs thrown it's way.

"The superb Hugo 2 features all the inputs and outputs you could realistically require from a product of this type...There isn’t another DAC around at anywhere near this sort of price able to communicate so well and

so effortlessly."

8. Chord Hugo TT2

The Hugo TT2 is a step up from the Hugo 2 and provides an upgrade on most components. From an upgraded power supply to better imaging, the Hugo TT2's performance is something that just has to be heard to be believed.

" In performance and feature terms it’s possible to make a strong case for the Hugo TT2 to be considered the best value DAC the company makes."

9. Chord DAVE

It's evident that Chord know how to make high quality DACs. The DAVE, an acronym for "Digital to Analogue Veritas in Extremis", is the creme de la creme of Chord's DAC range. It's not built to be portable but rather for the best performance you can possibly get. The DAVE is something quite special.

"Unlike the Mojo and Hugo 2, the Chord's DAVE isn’t about portability. It’s about maximising performance, and it does this brilliantly. The DAVE’s sound is superbly refined"
