Spotify recently updated their API which has caused Yamaha to update the way they retrieve Spotify from their servers. If your Spotify stopped working for some reason, you will need to update the firmware on your Yamaha product.

If possible it is always best to update via a Wired network or via USB. However it will also work on many models over your Wireless Network. This tip will focus on how to easily update your network receiver

Home Theater Models:

This includes RX-A and RX-V series receivers.

  1. Turn off your receiver
  2. While holding down the "Straight" button, press the power on button
  3. Advanced Setup should pop up on screen
  4. Press the program right button until update appears
  5. Press "Straight" until network appears
  6. Press the "Info" button
  7. The update takes up to 40 minutes to complete

Stereo Models:

This includes the R-N301, R-N500 and CD-N301. Please have a look in your product manual as the update procedure is unique.
