Harman/Kardon BDS Zoning Issues

Having Issues with your Harman/Kardon playing Blu-rays and DVDs? We've seem this problem before and it's generally a simple process to fix.

Recently we've had a couple of our Harman/Kardon BDS-277 and BDS-577 units brought in for repairs. The issue being described as 'the units wont play DVD's or Blu-Ray's and have locked up'. While there can be a number of causes for this, by far the most common cause we've observed is to do with automatic updates.

It appears that should the BDS units be updated, be it over their network connection or USB, it can reset the region zoning of the units back to their original manufacture setting, which unfortunately is not New Zealand. Once this occurs the units are unable to read any incompatible disc, which causes them to lock up into a disc reading loop, unable to even eject the disc.

The solution involves some relatively simple reprogramming and can be done in store for you, while you wait. So feel free to come down and see us if your having any issues.
